Grand Griffins

I'm handing Sundays off to the minor leagues starting today. And for the third time in recent memory, we're getting a look at the Grand Rapids Griffins. I don't mean to harp on them, but a lot of great concepts came in during and after the team held a fan jersey design contest — including this great design by Scott Markiewicz.
The AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins wrapped up a fan jersey contest yesterday by announcing the two winning designs. Unfortunately, that meant a lot of great ideas fell by the wayside, including this one by Matt McElroy. Anyone else feel like he was robbed?
Meanwhile, Geil Schock tells me he just missed the submission deadline but wanted to share his design anyway.
Here's a look at the two winning designs. What do you think?
Congrats to Mark Roberts of @pilotconcepts, who is one of our jersey design contest winners! #GoGRG pic.twitter.com/5kTrO7e9HB

This quartet of Grand Rapids Griffins logos by Slavo Kiss may be five years old, but it's definitely worth sharing during Minor League Week. What do you think?
When the NHL canceled the 2013 Winter Classic, it also effectively canceled one of two outdoor AHL games — since the ice sheet they were counting on was never built. It would've been the Grand Rapids Griffins hosting the Toronto Marlies, but it didn't happen. Maybe next year when the Winter Classic is expected to be rescheduled. In the meantime, this is what frequent contributor Ryan Haslett thinks the two clubs should wear when they eventually do meet up in the elements.
