Fisherman returns to Islanders sweaters for a night

Before I forget to post it here, last week the New York Islanders made good on a promise. For one night, they brought back a 20-year-old logo that was one of the most despised of its era.

On Feb. 3, prior to a 4-2 loss to Florida, they donned these special jerseys for warm-ups, featuring the fisherman logo the team used briefly in the mid-90s.

The plan for this special throwback design was first announced back in October.

To be honest, I was hoping for something a little more true to the original. Granted, the logo was unchanged, but part of what made that whole look stand out was the unusual sweater design.

I have to give the Isles credit for at least going back to the wavy numbers from that original uniform.

If you're a fan of '90s throwback jerseys, don't forget the Arizona Coyotes will bring back their original on March 5. But unlike the Islanders, the Coyotes will wear it for an actual game.

Any other '90s jerseys you'd like to see again?
