Sharks will wear 'heritage jersey' during 25th anniversary season

On Monday, the San Jose Sharks announced plans for their upcoming 25th anniversary which include wearing a "heritage jersey" during the season.

This is huge news for Sharks fans who have been hoping for a throwback to the original teal and grey jerseys from the early 1990s.

From the press release:

For a limited number of games during the 2015-16 season, the team will wear a newly-created “Heritage Jersey.” This new jersey was developed by Terry Smith, who created the original Sharks logo and uniforms, and many of the other iconic designs associated with the team.

According to Smith, “The Heritage Jersey represents the present of the Sharks franchise while paying stark homage to its past.”

The Heritage Jersey, along with the game schedule of when it will be worn, will be unveiled at a later date.

So it sounds like it won't exactly be a true throwback — but a new design inspired by looks from the team's past. I truly can't wait to see what's in store.

In addition to teasing the jersey, the Sharks also officially unveiled a couple of their 25th anniversary logos. Much like with their 20th, the team has a healthy variety of design options.

It's shaping up to be an interesting season in San Jose! We'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.
