First Look: Ducks, Avs third jerseys are on the way!

We know the Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche will have new alternate uniforms next season. But we don't yet know what they'll look like — until now. Icethetics has an exclusive first look at the new sweaters slated to debut this fall!

It's an orange jersey with the old Mighty Ducks crest! Proof that sometimes teams really do listen to their fans!

Yesterday, the Ducks said the new sweater will be officially unveiled Oct. 16.

As a way to promote the new sweater, the Ducks are offering "Third Jersey Mini-Plan" ticket packages.

There was some confusion about this jersey design when I first tweeted it a few weeks ago. At the time, the source believed it to be the Avs' Stadium Series jersey based mostly on the Reebok template.

Turns out it's actually the team's new third jersey! It features a new number font and the Colorado state flag on the left shoulder. I've also refined the rendering of the crest in the above image.

The Avalanche are really starting to embrace their home state as the flag-style "C" will now be seen on all three primary jerseys.

Then there's that tweet.

Trendwise, what do you notice? Orange is almost as big this year as yellow was last year. The Oilers revealed an orange throwback jersey at the draft. And navy blue is an interesting addition for Colorado. It was never part of the Avs' color palette before, but it sure is now.

Plus, that Stadium Series jersey template launched last season is definitely working overtime this year. Have to wonder whether Reebok is pushing it on teams or if the teams just like it that much. Both the Avs and Ducks new thirds make use of it.

What do you think of the new jerseys coming in 2015-16?
