Blues, Hawks make 2017 Winter Classic jerseys official
/About a week after the leak on the NHL's online store, the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks officially unveiled their 2017 NHL Winter Classic jerseys — back on Nov. 9.
Yeah, that was more than a week ago. I realize I'm a bit behind. But truth be told, there was nothing earth-shattering here. The earlier leak proved to be accurate. That said, official announcements come with extra details.
For example, the Blues press release says:
The Blues' Winter Classic uniform is a re-creation of the club's inaugural look from the 1967-68 season. The gear features historically-accurate fonts and team striping, a ribbed crewneck collar, the vintage blue color and the original Blue Note crest from the first season, making this an authentic design to create a true outdoor game original.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks press release tells us:
The Blackhawks NHL Winter Classic uniform is inspired by the playing era of legends Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull. The uniform stands as an homage to the legends of the past while preserving the classic aesthetic of the franchise by using details from uniforms of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
There we have it! Another great-looking Winter Classic — even if it does feature Chicago yet again.
By the way, the reason for the delay in this blog post is two-fold. First, my real-life job has been keeping me plenty busy lately, so the idea of getting back on another computer at the end of the day hasn't been all that enticing.
However, the other part is a side project I've been working on that I'm planning to share soon. It's been consuming a lot of my time and I think it's something you guys will enjoy.
Thanks for bearing with me!
