Adidas rolls out final NHL teasers
/Adidas and the NHL released one last round of teasers today — one day before all the new home jerseys will be officially unveiled Las Vegas. Almost every team tweeted a 10-second video clip with quick, distorted flashes of their jersey's crest and shoulder patch, where applicable.
Last week, teaser images were shared by each team gave us our first official glimpse at the new jerseys. This latest rollout saw all but three teams participate (Ottawa, Pittsburgh and Toronto) — and actually featured some big surprises!
I did the painstaking work of grabbing relevant stills from each video with as little distortion as possible. Take a look!
So what's new? Most notably, the Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks will have new shoulder patches next season! In addition, we now have confirmation the Vegas Golden Knights secondary logo will appear as a patch over grey shoulders.
The Sharks are going with one of the secondary "marketing" logos they unveiled last summer. It wasn't used on a uniform last season. Meanwhile, the Wild are simplifying the script from their third jersey and using the "M" as a secondary mark. Good moves for both teams!
As for what's missing, the Panthers had sort of a sleeve patch on their new uniforms last season with numbers on the shoulders. Neither is shown in their teaser here. That doesn't mean these elements won't be on the jersey, of course, but it is curious.
Not much longer to wait now. The official unveiling is scheduled for 5pm PT, but you never know what might turn up early so I plan to be at my computer all day tomorrow with updates on Twitter as well as here on the blog.
