Utica Comets go green with new third jersey

Today the AHL's Utica Comets unveiled their gorgeous new third jersey. It's the team's first alternate uniform since moving to upstate New York in 2013.

The green sweater features a new crest, a U shape inspired by the Comets' primary logo. Actually I hope to see it become the primary in years to come — when they're more established and no longer need a logo with their name in it.

To be honest, this is the alternate uniform I've wanted for a long time to see the Vancouver Canucks do. It's too bad their minor league affiliate beat them to the punch. But at least someone did.

From the press release:

“Our third jersey design is something very special to both myself and this community,” said Comets President Robert Esche. “Our fans continually embodied civic pride throughout our last two seasons — especially during last year’s playoff run — which exemplifies the bright future ahead for not only the Comets but for the City as a whole.”
